Yes, our office treats patients of all ages including adults. Orthodontics isn’t just for kids and teens; healthy teeth can be moved at any age. Treatment options often include more discreet choices like Invisalign or ceramic braces.
What age should my child have their first orthodontic evaluation?
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation no later than age 7.
- At this age, the orthodontist can spot subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while the primary and permanent teeth are present.
- Not all children need treatment this early, but an early checkup allows the orthodontist to determine the best time to start treatment, which may involve Phase I (interceptive) treatment or just monitoring the child’s development.

- For surgical cases, the orthodontist works with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to plan and coordinate the treatment, which involves a pre-surgical orthodontic phase, the surgery itself, and a post-surgical orthodontic refinement phase.
What happens at my first visit?
The first visit is a free consultation which involves a thorough, informative appointment.
- Medical/Dental History Review: You’ll fill out a short form.
- Clinical Examination: The orthodontist will examine your teeth, bite and jaw.
- Diagnostic Records (if necessary): This might include digital photos, X-rays and/or a 3D scan of your teeth.
- Discussion and Treatment Plan: The orthodontist will go over the findings, explain the recommended treatment options (if any), the length of treatment and answer all your questions.
- Review the Cost of Treatment: We’ll explain available payment options to help make orthodontic care accessible.If you have orthodontic insurance, we will review your benefits with you and explain how they apply to your treatment. Our office also offers direct billing to insurance whenever possible, helping make the process easier and more convenient for you. We do also offer family discount for the families that trust us with the smile journey of more than one member of the family!
